Illustrating with Kyla (3 of 3): Publicity & Marketing, a Collaboration Bonus

Illustrators need authors and authors need illustrators, not just to make the pictures, but to promote the work.

This is not something we expected or required, but we were delighted when both Kyla Wiebe and Rebekah Joy Plett shared extensively on social media during about their illustrations. Many artists and writers are quite private in the middle of creating their works-in-progress, but Rebekah and Kyla both brought their followers on a journey. Obviously it was a way for them to build their own brands, but it was also an act of generosity towards the author and the publisher to help us reach an even wider audience.

Not only did she Kyla share her process with pictures and video clips, she gave thoughtful commentary about the story.
