Journey with Joseph Advent Calendar Cards - LETTER size

English printable, LETTER size

We have created this “Christmas countdown” or advent calendar cards to accompany the Journey with Joseph Through Advent book. In Germany, where I come from, it is a common practice to count down the days until Christmas using an advent calendar. Here’s how to use these cards:

1. Print the following six pages of advent cards. If printing single-sided, glue correct backs and fronts
together. If printing double-sided, be sure to use the “bind (or flip) on long edge” setting so that cards back up correctly.

2. Take a string and fasten both ends to a wall. Use a small clothespin or paperclip, and fasten each card to the string in numerical order.

3. Starting on the 1st of December and ending on the 25th of December, take down one card each day and read the story that corresponds to that number. For example, on the 1st of December, take down the first card and read that story in the book.

The closer you come to Christmas, the fewer cards will be on the string!

Other ideas for how to use the advent calendar cards:

• Hide the cards in the Christmas tree and have your children find one each day.

• Punch a small hole in each card and hang them on a string on the Christmas tree or on a string.

• Put a card into each pocket or bag of an advent calendar with some goodies for each day!

The verses on the backs of the cards work well for memorizing with your children (ESV translation), or as a way to follow the story through Scripture.
