I knew Colleen at Regent College. We studied and made music together. We told stories and laughed. We attended concerts and were overjoyed at the possibilities of storytelling through music.

Colleen is a storytelling soul in the best sense in that her kind of storytelling is a way of life. Yes she writes and sings, but she also lives out her storytelling philosophy. Storytelling for her is about the bringing together of communities, friends and lovers. She seeks out diverse connections and longs to bring people together, even if it is just to laugh.

I was extremely blessed to have spent three years studying at Regent College with Colleen Taylor in the mid '90's. I spent almost two of those years as her roommate in a house full of artists. We were without television or radio, but Colleen kept us entertained and inspired with her creative genius at the piano and through poetry readings. During these years she composed the music and lyrics for her [arts thesis concert], "Finding a Voice," which she preformed for the Regent Community. I have never met anyone with as much creative energy as Colleen. Words, music and dreams make up her world. She puts these symbols to work so that they become something real, historic and forever a part of our world.

Colleen takes on the role of editing with creativity and flair. She makes the rough draft of another quickly into a clear, polished, well-written finished product. Her work is invaluable.

I met Colleen through her role in Student Development at Briercrest College. During that time I knew her to be a woman who loved to bring beauty & artistry into the spaces (& lives) surrounding her. She thoroughly enjoyed discussing art with those she came into contact with and was often found encouraging them in their journeys as artists.

Colleen's original music comes from a faith-inspiring, heart-felt desire for justice.  It bears witness to her creativity, her extensive musical ability, and her passion for life.  Besides, it's really good music!

Colleen’s vibrancy vivifies her songs so that, in turn, life is breathed into the listener.

Aware of Colleen's communication and writing gifts, I asked her to read a manuscript of my latest writing project Seeking Sabbath: A Personal Journey (Oxford: BRF, 2007). I found her feedback very helpful indeed and would recommend her to others.

Colleen,

I just wanted to say thank you for your work here at the school. I probably do not even know half of what you did around here but I know that you have impacted many lives, even just talking with people since you have left it is very apparent that you touched people. So even though I may not have been able to get to know you or really see you 'in action' I want to say thank you for your hard work, for standing up for women's issues, for pouring into people's lives, for working with alternate housing and student families, for wanting to show students how to use art to worship God, for your ministry with writing, speaking, teaching and music.

Thank you for giving of your life and your heart to so many here at Briercrest!
